Europe Assembly

Our class put on an assembly for the school on 27th November. Our theme was Europe. First each of us told a little information about Europe. We then performed the song "Somewhere in Europe". Finally a few of us danced the "Shoemaker's Dance".
We enjoyed doing all three.

Art and Science Project

Fourth Class in St. Clare's have been chosen to participate in an Art and Science Project.The poet Heather Brett and artist Marilyn Gaffney came to work with us on 16th November. We are excited bout taking part in this project.



Mobile Cinema

SCIENCE WEEK
On 12th November a mobile cinema visited our school. We were one of the lucky classes chosen to watch some Science experiments and  then watch the inventors Wallace and Gromit at work.

Library Visit

On Thursday our class visited the library. We enjoyed browsing through and reading some of the hundreds of books in the library.

Army Visit


1916


On Wednesday two members of the army visited our school to start the celebrations for the 100th Anniversary of the 1916 Rising. 




Saoirse and Letezia from Sixth Class accepted the flag and proclamation. Children from the entire school sang Amhrán na bhFiann.

We studied Ancient Greece in History.
We painted pictures of Greek Urns.


Tin Whistle

We have tin whistle lessons every Wednesday with Padraig Lynch until Christmas.

Car Survey

We observed the colour of each car that passed us in 10 minutes.
We found out that silver cars(22) were  twice as popularas the next most popular car colour black (11).
Neither pink nor yellow cars are a favourite of Cavan folk!


Traffic Survey

We are learning about Transport in Science and Geography. We conducted a survey outside our school. We found that cars were the most popular mode of transport followed by SUVs.

Thankfully it was slightly easier to count the number of vehicles that passed us.

Dance Class



We are learning a dance to the song Bills.


Art

Tonal Collage
We mixed paint with white paint to create lighter shades of that colour.
We then mixed paint with black paint to create darker shades of that colour.
We painted strips of paper and then cut them into squares.
We created a collage with these squares.

Colour Mixing

We learned that the three primary colours are blue, yellow and red. We mixed each of these colours with another and discovered that:
blue + yellow = green
yellow + red = orange
red + blue= purple

These new colours are called secondary colours.
